ABOUT US
We are a recently restored 14th century convent located in Pieve di San Leolino, a short walk from Panzano in Chianti. Known for its excellent organic wines and olive oil, Panzano is a charming medieval village with shops, wineries and restaurants.
Our fully restored ex-convent is rich in its own special history. Just gazing over the valley sends you back 5 centuries when skirmishes between the warring Florentines and Sienese were a regular occurrence, and crops and animals frequently disappeared from Le Masse to the hungry armies.
After purchasing Villa Le Masse in 2016, complete renovations commenced to make a family home in the Chianti hills. Focusing on elegance, comfort, style and the natural beauty of its location looking towards the hills of Lamole and Volpaia, the owners brought the villa up to a high standard befitting a demanding clientele. The interiors have been designed and furnished with a mix of contemporary and antique furniture in keeping with the style of the restoration.
All bedrooms have sitting areas for quiet rests or simply relaxing into the pleasure of curling up with a good book.

All beds have brand new sumptuous AIRELOOM California extra deep mattresses. 3 are English Super King (American King), one of these can be split into 2 singles and the rest are American Queen size/English King.
All bedrooms have spacious bathrooms with walk in rain showers, three include bathtubs
All bedrooms have a.c. and fans.
One bedroom is on the ground floor, with easy access.
One bedroom is in the romantic upper tower.

Staff
Our housekeeper lives in the cantina towards the south gate. Our manager lives nearby and
is available at any point throughout your stay and is your go-to for any help planning itineraries, tours, booking restaurants and using local services. She is on property in the office six days per week during the day and at night she is available for emergencies.
Our gardener is on premises Monday to Saturday and would be delighted to show you the gardens and discuss all things vegetable.

Breakfast
Continental breakfast is served daily including our own fresh eggs, local cheeses and meats, juices, seasonal fruits, homemade granola and Le Masse organic extra virgin olive oil.
Housekeeping
Two housemaids are provided from 8am to 12 pm, 7 days per week.
A mid-week towel change is included.
There is a washing machine available for guests use.

Gardens
Our gardens emphasise naturalistic planting schemes and aromatic plants to provide an emersive sensory experience.
The gardens have been designed to blend seamlessly with the Tuscan countryside in which the house is nestled. They are drought tolerant and planted with locally sourced plants or grown in our greenhouses.
We also have a lovely medicinal herb garden in which we encourage you to learn more about these amazing healing plants.
Additionally we have vegetable gardens and a fruit orchard to enhance your stay.

The local area and Panzano Village
There is a cashpoint, pharmacy, several grocery stores, a world-renowned butcher/restaurant (Dario Cecchini) and a good gelateria in Panzano village, a lovely 20-minute walk from the villa down a white road.
After a relaxing day by the pool, take an evening stroll to the lovely Panzanelle restaurant, walking 25 minutes through the vineyards of Molino di Grace to arrive in Lucarelli for a gorgeous dinner al fresco. Alternatively, walk into Panzano for dinner or lunch, or for the more ambitious, both Lamole and Volpaia can be reached by challenging walking or bike rides, or by car. We can always arrange a taxi to come pick you up after your meal.
As we are located in the heart of Chianti, you will find a wide choice of excellent wineries where you can stop for a tasting. Most of the wines in the region are organic, some, but not all require a reservation. Please check with us and we will be happy to arrange this for you. We also have good relationships with most of our local vineyards and we are happy to arrange tastings, private tours and special vineyard lunches. These must be arranged in advance.
Fontodi, Molino de Grace, Le Cinciole, Il Palagio, Renzo Marinai and Il Tagliato are amongst our favourites, but in this area, you can hardly go wrong.
